Today we'll take a look at the Timbren axle-less trailer suspension system, with the spindle and the brake flange designed for regular tires and has a 2200 pound weight capacity. Now this suspension system will provide a nice safe, smooth, quiet ride for your trailer. It does replace your complete axle, basically the trailing arm and the integrated hanger right here is what will attach the suspension to the side and the bottom of your trailer frame. They are two independent units and they can eliminate the need for a through axle. Now, this is going to be a pretty much complete system to replace our axle on our trailer if something happened, it got damaged, bent, or broken, or something happened to it, or to fabricate a new trailer with a matching axle for our application.The axle has a max weight capacity of 7,000 pounds and the measurement from the hub face to hub face is 95 inches, so fairly long, heavy duty axle for our trailer. If you want to go from the spring seat to spring seat, for that measurement, it's going to be 80 inches wide. Again, going from the center of each of those, they are welded to the bottom of the axle, so that's going to give us an underslung design, and that helps to just drop our trailer deck a little bit lower, which makes loading things onto it a little bit easier.If you think about it, if you have your trailer up here, and the ramps are out at kind of a steep angle, if you drop that down, it also brings our ramps down at a more gentle angle, and it makes things a lot easier to roll up onto it, so that's the advantage with loading and unloading with that lower deck height there.Now again, we do get our hubs, the cap, the brakes, and all the hardware to get that attached. more

It's going to have a total length of 94 inches. That's measuring from hub face to hub face, or if you want to measure from spring center to spring center, it's going to be about 79 inches. So, this is an underslung design; that means that our spring seat is going to be mounted on the bottom of the axle itself. That helps to drop our axle down, and that gives us a little bit better time whenever we go to load up any kind of equipment on our trailer.Since if you think about it, if our trailer is sitting up pretty high and we have ramps in the back, they're going to be at a steeper angle. more

The independent action of this suspension reduces roll when your trailer's cornering, and allows you to maximize ground clearance, and minimize deck height. Your trailer can have the same side to side clearance as your tow vehicle. Dexter Trailer Axle with Electric Brakes Review- Video
Today we're going to be taking a look at the Dexter Trailer Axle with electric brake and hub assembly. The kit is going to come with our easy lube axle as well as two electric brake assemblies. You're also going to have the seals, the inner and outer bearings, the castle nut, keeper, grease cap, and the cover on that cap as well. You're also going to have new lug nuts for your hub base. It's also going to come with a tube of Marine-grade grease.So we'll get our two electric brake assemblies. These are going to be 10 by 2 1/4 inch assemblies, so that's going to be measuring from the outside of the brake pads to the other, that's the 10 inch by 2 1/4 going the width. more

Speaker 1: Now, let's take a look at our conventional Lee Spring suspension versus our Timbren suspension. As you can see, there's a lot less movement. The trailer doesn't bounce up nearly as much, so it's generating a lot less noise. Overall, it's going to offer a much smoother and more controlled ride. Now, let's take a look at our Axle-Less suspension system as we go out through our test course. You can see as we're hitting the different bumps, you're not seeing as much movement as what we're used to with the conventional suspension system. more

Now, to ensure that this is gonna be an appropriate fit for you, there are a few measurements you'll want to check. The first is gonna be the spring center, so it's the center of the spring here to the center of the spring on the other side. That should be 74 inches. Dexter Trailer Idler Axle Beam Installation- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Idler Axle Beam with the EZ-Lube Spindle at 60 inches long, offering a 2,200 pound capacity. It's part number is T20BTR-EZ-6048.Now to verify that this is going to be the appropriate axle replacement for you there are two measurements that you want to get. The first they call spring center, so that's gonna be from the center of the spring on this side, to the center of the spring on the other side. This axle offers a 48 inch what they call spring center to spring center measurement, so you want to make sure that yours matches that. The second is gonna be the hub face to the hub face, so you want to get this measurement while the hubs are still on the axle. You're gonna measure from the flat spot where your rim makes contact with the hub to that same spot on the opposite side. more
